Waiting For "Big Me" To Speak Up- An Essential Skill For Weight Loss

We all have two sides to us. The emotional child who seeks instant gratification, avoids discomfort, and tries for “easy”. It’s the part of us that wants pleasure without discomfort or effort. This part of us exists so we can know the emotional adult in us. The “big me”, as I like to call her, delays gratification, embraces discomfort, and knows “easy” doesn’t get her anywhere.

Little Me sounds like, “I want.”….Big Me says, “I create.”

Little Me says, “I have to change people to have peace'.” Big Me says, “I have to choose my thoughts carefully to have peace.”

Little Me says, “I have to protect myself from discomfort. ”Big Me says, “Discomfort is what grows me.”

Little Me says, “It’s their fault.” Big Me says, “It’s my choice.”

Little Me says, “They should.” Big Me says, “I can.”

Little Me says, “Help me!”. Big Me says, “I know exactly how to help myself.”

Little Me says, “I want to feel better now.” Big Me says, “Nothing feels as good as supporting myself in my goals and creating an amazing life for myself.”

Little Me says, “It’s not fair.” Big Me says “Unfair makes me better.”

Little Me says, “Poor me.” Big Me says “Lucky me.”

The key to living a life you love isn’t getting rid of Little Me. It’s allowing Little Me (your first thought) and then waiting for Big Me (your wiser self) to speak up.

As you practice this skill, you’ll become more familiar with both sides of you and will be less likely to believe your impulsive thoughts. You’ll, instead, become better at listening for your wiser self to speak up and make decisions that serve you in the long term. This means you will be able to let go of the inner struggle and create a life you truly love! Weight loss or achieving any goal doesn’t have to be difficult- it’s simply a matter of not attaching to your first thought, and accessing your wisdom.

I hope this insight helps you. Give it a try today and let me know how I can support you!
