What To Tell Yourself When You're Feeling Discouraged About Your Weight Loss

The Morning Routine

There comes a time in every weight loss journey that we experience a loss of confidence or enthusiasm. We doubt our abilities to achieve our weight loss goal, or we’re just not as interested in reaching our goal as we once were.

So, what’s happening??? Our mind and emotion are getting in the way….and that’s OK- it happens. It’s part of being human. However, during times like these, we can regroup and tell our minds that “we’re in charge”. We can consciously choose what to think, rather than letting our mind and emotions lead us astray.

The following are some thoughts you can choose when you “feel discouraged”:

  1. This is tough, but so am I

  2. I can respond to any situation in a way that I feel proud of.

  3. I’m figuring this out.

  4. I’m learning so much about myself as I face challenges.

  5. I’m going to commit to taking this one step at a time and doing the next right thing.

Intentional thinking, in a way that supports us in our weight loss journey, is the key to success. When you’re feeling discouraged, take time to become aware of the thoughts/ beliefs that are generating that feeling. Realize those thoughts are “normal” and part of being human, but that you have choices in what to believe/ think. Try some new thoughts, such as the ones I’ve suggested above, to help generate the emotion necessary to create successful results.
