The Fastest Way To Get Started In Achieving Your Weight Goal

I talk to people all the time who ask me “how to get started” in reaching their weight goal. My advice to them, and to anyone else who’s wondering….would be to remove sugar and flour from your regular diet.

The goal is to keep your insulin as low as possible since insulin is our “fat storage” hormone. Insulin is artificially raised when we eat sugar and flour. By eating little to no sugar and flour, insulin levels drop dramatically. This also allows our hunger hormones (leptin and ghrelin) to become balanced and keep our hunger signals clear.

Flour and sugar also create “overdesire” by concentrating the dopamine response in the brain. This leads your brain to believe that concentrated foods are important to your survival and the desire is perpetuated as we consume them.

I do recommend eating flour and sugar one time per week in a manageable way, however. This is part of maintaining a healthy relationship with food and yourself. This “exception” is always planned 24 hours in advance so we’re not eating these foods in a “reactive” way.

The solution to being overweight is to reduce hunger and desire to natural states so you can be your natural weight. I hope this helps you get started on your weight loss journey, or adds helpful insight if you’re already headed that direction.
