Tapping Into Your "Athlete Energy" To Reach/ Maintain Your Weight Goal For Good!
There’s a lot of hype about being “authentic” in culture right now. After coaching myself, and many others, I’ve come to the conclusion that “authentic” is code for “lazy and undisciplined” in the energy (or character traits) we bring to the table. We are multi-dimensional beings who are capable of expressing ourselves in many different ways. We become much more effective when we become precise about which character traits (aka “energy”) we’re expressing at any given moment.
Let me explain. Each role in life takes different “energy” in order for us to be effective in the role. For example, a mom’s role is to protect and nurture her children. It wouldn’t be useful to bring romantic, charming, or adoring energy to that role. It would be most useful to bring our watchful, patient, and supportive energy to the role of mothering. (We can save the romantic, charming, and adoring energy for our partner/ spouse!)
When it comes to stewarding and training our bodies, I’ve found that it’s most useful to bring conscientious, disciplined, and persistent energy. That means when scheduling workouts for the week, food prepping, recovering from workouts, crushing our workouts, eating, or deciding whether to have “the cookies” after dinner, it’s most useful to call on the conscientious, disciplined, and persistent energy that already exists in us- I like to describe it as “athlete energy”!
Many of us feel like we’re not meeting our expectations in life because there’s something wrong with us. What if it’s just a matter of not using the right “energy” at the right times?
