Taking The First Step- Ditch the Flour and Sugar

You may have heard "ditch the sugar and flour" many times, but not understood exactly why. Information is key to making empowered choices for yourself, so I'm going to educate you a bit on the "why".

The first reason, that many people are already familiar with, is that sugar and flour contain empty calories. This means they are void of nutrition- what our bodies actually "need" to function properly.

The second reason is that they're making you unnaturally hungry. Because they're artificially highly concentrated foods, that we can't easily process, they unnaturally raise your insulin (fat storage hormone), which throw off your leptin and ghrelin (two other hunger hormones that tell you when you're hungry and full).

The third reason is they keep you in sugar burning mode. They keep us eating too often (due to intensified dopamine response, not providing nutrition, and increased hunger). When we eat too often, our bodies aren't able to become fat adapted, which is the preferred metabolic state that results in  sustained energy and greater mental focus.

Another reason to ditch sugar and flour, is that they can lead to health problems, such as obesity (self explanatory), diabetes (we become insulin resistant), heart disease, and cancer (due to increased inflammation in the body).

As soon as you give up flour and sugar your body will go into protest mode. You will experience negative physical symptoms and emotions. When you stop using food to deal with life, everything comes to the surface.
