Gratitude Changes Everything- Even Your Weight!
Ingratitude is a state of mind we find ourselves in when we forget the kindness or favors we’ve received in life. The natural consequence for ingratitude is anxiety and/ or depression. We often times overeat to numb feelings of anxiety & depression. Therefore, often times, when we begin to practice gratitude- remember the kindness & favor we’ve received in life- it becomes easier to stop overeating and lose weight.
Some of the things my clients are grateful for include:
the fun & excitement of their own or others’ children
a safe home/ neighborhood
the warm bed they sleep in
airconditioning
clean water
nourishing food
silly pets
the ability to use their intelligence & creativity in their job
teaching & discipline from parents when they were young
an adventurous best friend
a comfortable car
heated/ air conditioned seats
family who is there for them in tough times
a strong body
laughter/ good humor
a quick mind
wicked problem solving skills
a democratic society
gracious strangers
friendly neighbors
a country that’s rich in resources and opportunity
fun fashion
crazy in laws
cleverness in dealing with people
a mom who would do anything for them
police, firefighters, the military
a devoted partner
The list goes on and on…
It’s easy to start practicing gratitude! First thing in the morning, simply jot down three things you’re grateful for. Write it on paper and keep a tally for the week- and try not to duplicate the items you name!
Let me know how it works for you. I’d love to hear how the first steps of your transformation go!
